PressToCheck™ filters are designed to help users verify that their mask is fitted correctly every time it is worn. By pressing the filters inwards, the user can check for any leaks around the seal of the mask, giving confidence that the respirator is providing a secure fit.
However, it is important to understand that using PressToCheck™ filters does not replace the requirement for a formal fit test. According to the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE), a fit test must be carried out to ensure that the specific model and size of mask fits the user’s face correctly. This is a one-time requirement for each tight-fitting facepiece used in the workplace.
The PressToCheck™ feature is a daily face fit check, which is a useful routine to perform each time the mask is donned. This should not be confused with a formal fit test, which is a more structured process and a legal requirement under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
Key points:
- PressToCheck™ allows users to manually check their mask is correctly sealed each time it's worn.
- It is a useful tool for ensuring daily confidence in the fit of the mask.
- However, it does not replace the formal fit testing required by the UK HSE.
- PressToCheck™ is not an HSE-recognised fit test method.
