Why You Don’t Need a COSHH Sheet for Respiratory Protective Equipment

Understanding COSHH requirements and how they relate to respiratory products

No, you do not need a COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) sheet for the respiratory mask itself.

COSHH regulations apply to hazardous substances that you work with or may be exposed to during processes such as manufacturing, maintenance, painting, or cleaning. These sheets are used to identify risks and manage exposure to harmful substances—not to cover safety equipment like masks, which are designed to protect you from those hazards.

Instead, we can provide you with product data sheets for any of our respiratory protective equipment (RPE). These include detailed information about the design, use, and performance of the equipment. If you need one, please contact our sales team who will be happy to assist.

Key points:

  • COSHH applies to hazardous substances, not safety equipment.
  • You do not need a COSHH sheet for your respiratory mask.
  • COSHH sheets should cover materials and substances used or produced in your work processes.
  • JSP can provide product data sheets for all of our respiratory protection products.
