We have recently received an increase in enquiries regarding whether the JSP Force®10 Full-Face Mask fitted with PressToCheck™ ABEK1P3 filters can protect against CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) threats.
JSP’s respiratory protection systems, including the Force®10 Full-Face Mask, are designed for occupational use. While they can offer a level of protection against certain elements of CBRN hazards, they are not certified or intended for use in CBRN environments.
The PressToCheck™ ABEK1P3 filters are constructed using carbon materials that are similar to those found in specialist CBRN canisters. However, they do not contain the same volume of activated carbon, which is critical for high-level chemical and biological protection. Furthermore, these filters have not been tested or approved for use against chemical or biological warfare agents.
In terms of particulate filtration (relevant for radiological and nuclear hazards), the ABEK1P3 filters offer performance similar to that of military respirators. However, JSP does not guarantee protection against CBRN threats when using these filters.
Important Usage Guidance:
- The Force®10 Full-Face Mask should always be face fit tested before use, to ensure it provides the expected level of protection.
- A clean-shaven face is required for a proper face seal.
- A fit check must be performed after donning the mask to confirm a secure and confident face seal has been achieved without leakage.
Key points:
- The Force®10 Full-Face Mask with ABEK1P3 filters is designed for occupational use, not CBRN environments.
- The filters are not certified or tested for chemical or biological warfare agents.JSP does not warrant their use against CBRN threats.
- Face fit testing, clean-shaven use, and post-donning fit checks are essential for effective protection.
