How Long Do the Batteries in JSP Road Lamps Last?

Understanding Battery Life in Different Site Conditions

The battery life of a JSP lamp can vary depending on several factors, including natural light levels, ambient temperature, and whether the lamp is fitted with a photocell.

JSP offers lamps with or without photocells. A photocell automatically switches the lamp on at dusk and off at dawn, which is ideal for work sites left unattended overnight or over weekends. This feature also helps to prolong battery life, especially in summer when daylight hours are longer and the lamp may not need to operate at all.

In performance trials conducted using fresh batteries in September—a time of year with balanced day and night lengths—the Maxilite FPC lamp ran for up to 28 days.

While actual battery life will depend on usage and site conditions, using lamps with photocells generally ensures a more efficient energy cycle and longer operation between battery changes.

Key Points:

  • Battery life depends on light levels, temperature, and lamp type.
  • Lamps with photocells automatically turn on/off with daylight changes.
  • Photocells help extend battery life by reducing unnecessary use.
  • In trials, Maxilite FPC lasted 28 days using fresh batteries in September.
  • Summer months typically allow for longer battery life due to extended daylight.
