It is not recommended to apply paint, solvents, adhesives or self-adhesive labels to JSP safety helmets unless done in accordance with JSP’s official guidance. Altering the surface of a helmet using unauthorised materials could compromise its structural integrity and performance, even if the change appears cosmetic.
The instruction manual supplied with every JSP helmet states:
Do not apply paint, solvents, adhesives or self-adhesive labels, except in accordance with the instructions from the helmet manufacturer.
Why this matters:
- The suitability of a label can only be confirmed through testing over the expected life of the helmet.
- Applying unauthorised materials may lead to undetectable degradation of the helmet.
- Only labels supplied or approved by JSP are guaranteed to be suitable for use on JSP safety helmets.
